About Us

The Office of Continuing and Professional Education is part of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at the University of Connecticut. It capitalizes on the expertise and diversity of UConn faculty to design and deliver noncredit learning experiences for professional development.

The Office of Continuing and Professional Education was created to provide professional education and workforce solutions to a broader community at a regional and statewide level It supports the commitment, and mission of outreach by the university as a Research 1 Land Grant University. UConn supports the needs of the community through outreach and extension programs that cover a diverse mix of topics directed to individuals in various stages of personal and professional development.

The importance of continuing education has never been greater than today. As we each have adjusted our professional and personal lives in response to a global pandemic, we recognize the value of continual learning for personal engagement and sustenance, and for professional growth and support, as we maneuver through new working environments.

In partnership with leadership and faculty in all of UConn’s schools and colleges, OCPE will provide opportunities across disciplines to meet the diverse needs of adult learners statewide and nationally.

We are:

  1. Agile and responsive in developing and delivering non-credit programs to meet the needs of an evolving learning audience

Mission

The Office of Continuing and Professional Education will work collaboratively with business and industry, and faculty across UConn’s schools and colleges, to design and deliver high quality programs that regularly exceed client expectations to:

  • Provide access for adult learners to high-impact continuing and professional education opportunities that align with career goals, including upskilling and reskilling needs
  • Contribute to economic development through partnerships with state and national industry leaders to develop agile and innovative workforce development solutions
  • Enhance UConn’s academic brand to engage new and diverse audiences, including global learners through FutureLearn.
